(I PROMISE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM TO EXPLAIN EACH OILS AND THE WONDERFUL BENEFITS THEY HAVE, AND I CAN NOT WAIT FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO DECIDE BY READING, WHICH ONE OR ALL THAT YOU NEED. I have studied and researched Essential Oils for years… self education I guess… It has always been a topic I have wanted to learn as much as I can about!)
We started with Organic Peppermint, Organic Lavender, Organic Tea Tree, Organic Lemon, a blend called Mint Revival as well as the Immune Boost Blend, and one of my Favorites called Balancing Act.
Adding some more favorites of mine that I have already been using and researched as well! We just added Organic Frankincense, Organic Lemongrass, Organic Geranium and a blend called Pure Air. I WILL go over each oil in separate posts, because I would really like for you to understand this post FIRST. I have had all of this information in my head and in notes and I have SO MUCH information… I love to research and learn, so I am going to start here, It takes me long enough to just sort it all down to one subject at a time but I really want you to know this beforehand, and make sure everything is BASIC before I go through the benefits and uses THOROUGHLY. I hope to share some valuable information about them. I will start with the basics (SOME of the basics) about application methods here, and hopefully shed some light on ours, to make is easier for those that have never used or researched them, as well as help those already partially or formally educated to understand our company’s oils and policies.
Before you start using Essential Oils, I believe this will help you understand HOW WHY WHEN ARE WHERE to use them. there are 2 ways you can benefit from Essential Oils, depending on what your needs are.
1. Inhalation Therapy
If, for example, you feel the need to balance your emotions, or your hormones, or maybe some spiritual inspiration, the BEST way is through inhalation therapy.
If you are dealing with aches and pains or fighting off the flu, the best way would be application therapy. Application therapy is normally where you would combine anywhere from 5-10 drops of an Essential Oil or blend per oz. of a carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil.
To understand anything about Essential Oils, we need to know HOW they work.
When you use Inhalation therapy, the Oil is absorbed through the nose, where it is absorbed into the olfactory system, which connects it to the nervous system, which connects it to the brain, and THAT is where it connects to our Limbic System. The Nose bone connected to the… olfactory .. ok stop making up songs… 😉
OK, SO The Limbic System is a complex set of brain structures, which I can go into more detail if needed.
The Limbic system supports a variety of functions… emotion, behavior, long term memory, motivation, and olfaction. (The olfactory bulb carries scent information from the nose to the brain)
Emotional life is largely housed in the limbic system, and it has a great deal to do with the formation of memories. So, when we inhale the micro-molecules in Essential Oils, go into the Limbic system, which is in charge of our Emotional State, and in charge of our Hormonal production. Basically that part of your brain is what makes you laugh or cry or remember that perfume or the smell of honeysuckles or well, when your emotions are bad, can lead to depression or cause your brain not to send the signals that THESE hormones need to be produced here… so while it forms memories it also has a lot to do with your physical health. Your brain tells every part of your body what and when to do it, so If something is amiss… it “misfires” (my basic way of saying it) which can cause.. well… you name it…
That’s why, when we inhale the Essential Oils they are able to directly start working with helping us with our emotions if we are feeling sad or down… for example, we can inhale some lemon and it can help to uplift our emotions or lift our spirits. If we can’t sleep at night we can use lavender for inhalation…
2. Application Therapy
Just think about how, after you just decide to do a Major workout, and you are sore, or know you will be… you want to purify your body and help get the lactic acid out that can build up…
You could make a blend
5 drops peppermint. 2 drops Tea Tree and 3 drops Lavender and combine it with 1oz of our Carrier Oil. We do offer Fractionated carrier Oil as well. So, you can take a shower, and after you shower apply this blend all over your body. Fractionated Coconut is called a carrier Oil because that os exactly what it does… it helps CARRY the Essential Oils and your skin will literally drink in the blend all the way through to the Dermal Layer. Now not only are you getting it into your muscle tissue, but also your circulatory system where it can help to release teh built up Lactic Acid from the muscles.
Once it is in your circulatory system, from there it goes into your bloodstream, which can carry it to all of the tissues and organs and literally all of the “systems” in your body.
If you are fighting off the flu.. or a cold, it can stimulate your lymphatic system (which is part of the circulatory System and a VITAL part of the Immune System. Now, unlike your cardiovascular System… the Lymphatic system doesn’t close. It’s constantly circling..
It processes and Filters your blood as well, and is ALWAYS WORKING to defend your immune system. Rather… SHOULD always be working that way. There is a lot more to this but basically it’s a ” lymphatic network” which if you read about it is really an AMAZING part of our body God gave us. Everything seems so complicated when you start reading, then if you just take a little more and a little more information…. Our bodies are AMAZING.
So, now you know in a nutshell the methods of application and how they work.
SOME of you will no doubt want to know…. BUT WHY can’t I drink my lemonade made with Lemon EO instead of real lemons like chick fil a?? I love Lemons so much I’d rather use 70-100x as much as I need than actually juice a lemon!
OK, sorry I am joking but serious.
I, nor does Lemongrass Spa recommend ingesting Essential Oils, unless you are under the care of a physician or a licensed aromatherapist… and most licensed aromatherapists (note I did not say all i said most) do not recommend it either. There are reasons for this… so, that is my next blog post. I know everyone is SO EXCITED TO KNOW WHY YOU CAN’T JUST DRINK MY FRANKINCENSE
All of our oils with the exception of some blends are 100% USDA Organic. The rest are wildcrafted. That is also for another post. I thought this to be enough for someone who wants to take this serious and start educating yourself about the use of essential oils.
